Cal-YAF Protest ChiComs

California Young Americans for Freedom joined several Taiwanese groups protesting against Communist China’s Anti-Succession Law. The law was passed on March 5, 2005 by the Chinese National People’s Congress, which mandated a military attack on Taiwan if Taiwan, a de-facto independent nation, formally declares independence.

The US House of Representatives voted 424 - 4 a resolution expressing grave concerns over China’s Anti-Secession Law on March 15, 2005. The Anti-Succession Law shows the Communists’ intent to destabilize the region. As President Bush works to rid the world of islamofacism, the Chinese Communists are now angling to make themselves an even bigger threat to American security.

Brandon Powers, Chairman of Cal-Yaf said, “It is truly ironic that while Communism is being rejected all over the world, we find that in America – where freedom is guaranteed as birthright – many fail to understand the danger that Communism poses. If we don’t support Taiwan and other allies, not only will critical regions of the globe become unstable, the cause of freedom around the world will also be in peril."

The protest took place in front of the Los Angeles City Hall on March 25, and recieved much coverage the following day in many Taiwanese language papers - showing Los Angeles YAF Chairman Josh Barnett tearing a Chinese flag in half and subsequently stomping it (see here and here).
